Scarlett Johansson

John Travolta: Do you realise that in your young life you are getting the opportunity to work with all the greats, the people that others your age may never get to learn from? It reminds me of my experience.  I got to know all the great actors and directors of yesteryears, and 20 years later you're kind of experiencing the same thing.

Scarlett Johansson: I feel so fortunate to be able to work with directors whose movies my mother waited on line for two hours to see. Here
I am, 20 years old, getting to work with all these people who are an inspiration to m,y generation and the generation before.

JT: I became a pilot and studied Scientology.  As an actor, you need to have other interests in lots of different areas in order to broaden your art.  this is the perfect time to explore that.

SJ:  Being that I never went to college, all I want to do is make movies and act and write and direct and all the things that are so much fun.  But at the same time, when I go to work I want to be excited about what I am doing, ebcause we have this unbelievable opportunity and are so fortunate to be able to do it - it's a one-in-a-million chance.  I feel like it's important to have other things you're interested in to never lose that feeling.

JT: How is your love life?

SJ: Excuse me?!

JT: Are you dating anybody?  You can keep who it is a mystery, but is there someone you like?

SJ: Yes, I like someone.

JT: And is it ssame person you liked two years ago?
SJ: Stop it, John! No more.

JT: But you're a major sex symbol.  People want o know!

SJ: You're the worst.  I was talking to somebody the other day about working with you, and we agreed you live vicariously.  You're always like, "so, what's your sex life like? Who are you dating? Who are you hanging out with?"

JT: Well, I'm very protective of you.  I don't want to see you with the worng person.

SJ: Well, we'll talk about it some other time.

JT: All right.  As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

SJ: Yes, I'm very happy.  I've got my dog.  I like someone.  I'm in New York.  Everything's good.

GET THE LOOK: SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Said to be the new Marilyn Monroe, bombshell blonde Scarlett Johansson is old school glamour from head to toe.

Whether she is walking the red carpet, on-screen or out shopping, the talented Johansson always looks stylish and elegant.

nzgirl shows you how to get her look.

Vintage Vixen
On the cutting edge of fashion, Scarlett Johansson is dressed by the world's top designers. The fashion conscious blonde has toyed with looks ranging from 80s punk queen to super sex kitten, but always returns to the old school glamour which has become her trademark. Scarlett's look channels old silver screen sirens such as Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow and Rita Hayworth, who all oozed style and elegance. To give her look a contemporary feel, Johansson plays with colours and textures to create a look which is modern yet harks back to a bygone era.

The best way to replicate Scarlett's look is with a vintage inspired dress, such as the pictured tie back dress from Country Road. The simple elegance of this piece is spiced up with the back detailing and the use of bright cobalt blue, which can be matched with bright colours or natural tones alike. Pair it back with a dramatic pair of sparkling sandals and an oversized metallic handbag to get the Scarlett feel.

Statement Piece
Scarlett is not scared of fashion, walking the runways for her favourite designers she is always on the new wave of fashion trends. And whilst she has found a look in clothing which has served her well, she can often be spotted with playful new season accessories. Bold bright jewellery, sexy footwear and whimsical handbags are some of Scarlett's favourite choices. To get her look pick accessories which have a vintage feel but feature unusual touches, such as this vintage inspired straw Maxi Barrel Bag from Mimco. The conventional shape of this oversized bag is spiced up through the use of woven straw which embraces the trend of natural touches this season. Dressed up enough for work, yet casual enough for the beach, this bag is available from the newly launched Mimco online store at www.mimco.com.au. Wear it with a high-waisted denim skirt, silk blouse and flats to steal Scarlett's style.

Make Me Up
With high cheek bones, pouting lips and large eyes, Scarlett's makeup is often toned down with a sense of girlish old world glamour. Starting with a fresh matt base her hazel eyes are highlighted with a medium brown eye-shadow applied in a smudge to the lower eyelid to just above the crease and also to line the eye. During the day this is kept matte whilst at night a shimmer eye-shadow will make a world of difference. Lining the eyes with smokey black kohl and applying two coats of mascara gives a smokey, sexy look which is complimented by toned down lips. Scarlett will often have pinkish matte lips achieved by using a matt creme lip stick applied with a brush during the day whilst at night nude lip gloss gives her a sexy sheen. A little pink toned blush to the apples of the cheek finishes the look.

Hairy Style
Scarlett is as playful with her hair as she is with fashion, often dying her hair or getting dramatic hair cuts like her infamous stylised mullet. However of late, Scarlett's hair has been old world glamour, demure in shimmering blonde complementing her feminine vintage look. During the day Scarlett often pulls her hair back to bring emphasis to her face but for red carpet affairs a pretty wave gives her hair drama and depth. To get the look on straight hair, apply medium hold mousse to damp hair before using a curling wand on sections of your hair, starting at the back and moving to the front. You can also hand curl hair by twisting it up and pinning it onto your head. Wait for these curls to dry before unpinning to give volume and a pretty wave finish with hairspray to hold. For already curly or wavy hair, a wax or hair defining spray will define curls and give them a lustrous sheen.
